The world is our stage! Create theater magic this summer in Prospect Park with Brooklyn Acting Lab! BAL’s “In the Park” series runs weekly from June 14th – August 27th, 2021. Classes run on weekly schedules from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM. To ensure the safety and health of the participants, groups are limited to no more than 10-12 students, plus one Teaching Artist and one Teaching Assistant.
BAL’s one-week Young PLAYers in the Park Series allow your child to play, create, connect and have an immersive and imaginative theater experience. Guided by experienced teaching artists who are both educators and theater professionals, participants will work together to explore a weekly theme. Each week culminates in a socially distanced Friday afternoon outdoor sharing at 2PM for a limited audience of family and friends.
In our two-week Mini Musical program students will work on an abridged script from a popular musical, including short scenes, songs and choreography. They will develop their vocal, movement, and acting skills. Every student gets a part and will work with teaching artists to develop their characters through an ensemble-based rehearsal process. The program will culminate in a socially distanced outdoor afternoon performance in Prospect Park.
Join us for Summer Intensives with Brooklyn Acting Lab in Prospect Park. For (rising) 5th–8th graders we offer Summer Intensives ranging from Musical Theater Bootcamp to Acting on-Camera! Sing, dance and act all summer long with our team of professional actors, musicians, dancers, directors and choreographers! Each week culminates in a socially distanced Friday afternoon outdoor sharing at 2:30 PM for a limited audience of family and friends.
The arts are essential. Art helps restore joy in our hearts, homes, and communities. The arts will be a vital tool in re-imagining and re-creating a better and brighter future. Arts education is a right, not a privilege.
At BAL we are committed to providing access to all children and families who wish to partake in our programs. Please fill out this form for financial assistance and scholarships. For more information, contact us.
BAL's outdoor in person programming has been a lifeline to our 3 children ages 13, 11 and 8 during the pandemic. Suffering zoom fatigue, they have thrived in a safe, collegial environment, keeping connected to their passion for musical theater in creative and inspiring classes taught by talented and devoted teachers. BAL's outdoor offerings have kept the spotlight on for in person children's performing arts classes and brought back some joy to our daily, largely remote, grind.
We’re so happy to have had BAL as a safe creative and social outlet this past year. School is online and extracurriculars are cancelled, but we still look forward to seeing our friends from BAL each week.
BAL Outdoors has provided our daughter with the opportunity to safely interact with peers in-person while using her imagination to create. She has made new friends and built her confidence in a time when both things seemed impossible.
Brooklyn Acting Lab's outdoor classes have been an incredible outlet for my children, ages 6 and 10. Being able to sing and dance in glorious Prospect Park with such warm and energetic teachers has been just what they've needed during this unusual year of remote/hybrid learning. I've also been comforted by Brooklyn Acting Lab's organized and efficient safety protocols. They're an incredible organization and I recommend them wholeheartedly!
BAL's outdoor course is excellent. It provides a great way to get back some normalcy for the kids with in-person interaction, while still keeping safety during the pandemic.
