Policies and Guidelines for Indoor Programs

The health and safety of the youth we serve and their families, the teaching artists we work with,  and BAL employees is our number one priority. Here are the guidelines we are adhering so we can do our maximum to keep everyone safe and healthy.  

Drop-off and Pick-up

Kids will be dropped off and picked up at the BAL entrance. Parents/caregivers will not enter the BAL space . 

We will only dismiss your child to a parent/guardian/or authorized pick-up that has been noted on your registration form.

During pick-up and drop-off we ask that all adults: 

  • Remain physically distant all times. (6 ft apart)
  • Wear a face covering at all times.

Check-in Procedures

Screening questions will be asked each day and answers will be recorded daily. To speed up check-in we request that you respond electronically by 8AM if possible. Any family that does not submit will be asked these screening questions verbally upon arrival. 

We ask all parents/guardians  to immediately notify us if your child has any Covid symptoms or has had close contact with anyone who has tested positive for Covid. 

Physical Distancing and Face Coverings 

To comply with physical distancing requirements BAL and all of its patrons will agree to do the following: 

  • The maximum number of children in the indoor program will not exceed 8.
  • Teaching artists and kids must wear acceptable face coverings at all times. 
  • Markers will be adhered to the floor to ensure adequate social distancing. 
  • BAL will provide contractors/employees with an acceptable face covering at no cost and will have an adequate supply for coverings in case of replacement. 
  • Face coverings must be cleaned or replaced after use or when damaged or soiled, may not be shared, will be properly stored and discarded.
  • Face coverings will not be used more than one day. Face coverings should be cleaned or discarded after daily use.

Hygiene, Cleaning, and Ventilation

To ensure a safe and hygienic learning environment BAL will do the following:

    • BAL will provide an alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing 60% or more alcohol for areas where hand washing is not feasible.
    • Kids and teaching artists will sanitize upon arrival, between all program activities, after using the restroom, and before dismissal.
    • Kids will be instructed to sanitize their hands after using the restroom. They will wear masks/face coverings in any restrooms.
    • All surfaces will be sanitized before and after each class.
    • Floors will be sanitized before and after each class. No outdoor shoes are to be worn in the space. We ask each student to bring a separate pair of sneakers or jazz shoes to be worn in-studio only.
    • Windows and doors will be left open and fans will be turned for proper indoor ventilation.

Communication

If a contractor/employee tests positive for Covid-19, BAL Executive Director will immediately notify state and health departments and cooperate with contact tracing effort, including notifying potential contacts, including families of the children who had close contact with the individual, while maintaining confidentiality required by state and federal law and regulations.

If a child in one of the ensembles tests positive for Covid-19, BAL Executive Director will notify state and health departments and cooperate with contact tracing effort, including notifying potential contacts, including families of the children who had close contact with the individual, while maintaining confidentiality required by state and federal law and regulations.

BAL is adhering to NYS Travel Advisory. Please review these guidelines. If you travel outside of NYS you must adhere to these guidelines.

Policies and Guidelines for Outdoor Programs

BAL has been bringing theater magic and fun outdoors to Prospect Park since July 2020. The park is our stage and we are excited to continue to play!  This summer, after-school classes will be  available to students who are Rising into Kindergarten through 8th grades. The health and safety of the youth we serve and their families, the teaching artists we work with, and BAL employees is our number one priority.

Here are the guidelines we are adhering to so we can do our maximum to keep everyone safe and healthy.

Each day kids will be dropped off at the entrance of Prospect Park. Pick-up will be at the same location. We will only dismiss your child to an authorized pick-up that has been noted on your registration form.

Cold and Rainy Days

On extremely cold or rainy days, we will move to virtual programming on zoom. If there is a 60% or more forecast of rain or snow for the day or temperatures lower than 34 degrees, we will provide families with a Zoom link by 2PM. In the event of unexpected weather during the class students will need to be picked up at the 9th Street park entrance or at BAL (1012 8th Avenue). Parents will be notified which location we are at.

Please make sure to send your child dressed appropriately. They should wear layers, gloves, and hats when it is cold. They should also wear sneakers or waterproof shoes when the ground is wet.

  • Teaching artists and kids must wear acceptable face coverings at all times except during snacks and lunch at which time kids will be adequately socially distanced. (6 feet apart)
  • BAL will provide contractors/employees with an acceptable face covering at no cost and will have an adequate supply for coverings in case of replacement.
  • Face coverings must be cleaned or replaced after use or when damaged or soiled, may not be shared, will be properly stored and discarded.
  • Face coverings will not be used more than one day. Face coverings should be cleaned or discarded after daily use.

  • Kids will come with their own water bottle and snack/lunch each day. Food will not be shared. BAL will not provide food to students. 
  • Kids and teaching artists will sanitize upon arrival, between all program activities, after working with any shared materials, before eating, after using the restroom, and before dismissal. 
  • Kids will be instructed to sanitize their hands after using the restroom. They will wear masks/face coverings in any restrooms. 
  • Parents will be instructed to send their child with a personal hand sanitizer.
