Running from January 4- April 9, 2021
This winter Brooklyn Acting Lab continues to provide safe and creative spaces for youth to come together in the park, online, and at BAL’s 8th Avenue location. Our after-school programming is diverse and designed to engage and inspire. Check out our incredible line-up below, which includes taking a deeper look into Hamilton the Musical, building our own sketch comedy shows online, and creating our own Oz with Prospect Park as our setting. We are also thrilled to be launching a BAL Theater Dance Program this winter at the BAL studio in Park Slope!
Join us in the Zoom Theater where it happens! BAL has been offering online programming since March 2020 and we are taking virtual theater-making to the next level. We’ve adapted your favorite improv games to the virtual space and have discovered new and exciting ways to create stories, develop characters, and hone performance skills. Come work on a new monologue or scene, build a new character and sketch for our own online SNL-at-home inspired show, write an original song, or create a new play. It’s all happening in the Zoom Theater!
It’s time to celebrate nature and connect with creativity! Join us in Prospect Park this winter where we’ll invent new and exciting stories inspired by the rich history and natural beauty of the park. We’ll sing to the trees, dance with the squirrels, and run with the wind. BAL’s outdoor classes have been running since July 2020 and our BAL students are jazzed to be able to re-connect with their BAL buddies and continue to do what they love. Outdoor programs are physically active and engaging. We move BIG and play hard and in the Spring we will share our stories under the trees in an outdoor performance for families.
This January, Brooklyn Acting Lab is re-opening our studio at 1012 8th Avenue. We are eager and excited to begin to work safely in our very special space again – and to announce the launch of BAL’s Theater Dance and Movement program! This program gives young students foundations in dance as well as exposure to and experience with different dance styles and techniques. For this first season we are beginning with offerings in Musical Theater Dance, Jazz Technique, and Creative Movement.
Indoor programs will be limited to a maximum of 8 children and we will be following strict safety guidelines and protocols (see here). Each class also offers a virtual option for families who prefer to Zoom in.
BAL offers private and semi-private vocal, acting, and dance coaching – plus theater “pods” for all ages and all levels of experience. We can customize an after-school program in Prospect Park, indoors at a BAL location, or in your home’s outdoor space. For more info email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
The arts are essential. Art will play an integral role in our healing. Art will help restore joy in our hearts, homes, and communities. The arts will be a vital tool in re-imagining and re-creating a better and brighter future.
Arts education is a right, not a privilege. At BAL we are committed to providing access to all children and families who wish to partake in our programs.
