BAL SPRING 2021 | AFTER-SCHOOL THEATER CLASSES

Spring is here and  Brooklyn Acting Lab is committed to continuing to provide safe and creative spaces for youth to come together in the park, online, and at BAL’s 8th Avenue location. Our after-school programming is diverse and designed to engage and inspire. Check out our incredible line-up of programs for youth ages 3-17.
OUTDOOR CLASSES (in Prospect Park)

It’s time to celebrate nature and connect with creativity! Join us in Prospect Park this spring where we’ll invent new and exciting stories inspired by the rich history and natural beauty of the park. We’ll sing to the trees, dance with the squirrels, and run with the wind. BAL’s outdoor classes have been running since July 2020 and our BAL students are jazzed to be able to re-connect with their BAL buddies and continue to do what they love. Outdoor programs are physically active and engaging. We move BIG and play hard and in the Spring we will share our stories under the trees in an outdoor performance for families.

VIRTUAL CLASSES (in the Zoom Theater)

Join us in the Zoom  where it happens! BAL has been offering online programming since March 2020 and we are taking virtual theater-making to the next level. We’ve adapted your favorite improv games to the virtual space and have discovered new and exciting ways to create stories, develop characters, and hone performance skills.

DANCE & MOVEMENT CLASSES (Indoors & Online)

This January, Brooklyn Acting Lab re-opened our studio at 1012 8th Avenue for the launch of BAL’s Theater Dance and Movement program! This program gives young students foundations in dance as well as exposure to and experience with different dance styles and techniques.

Indoor programs will be limited to a maximum of 8 children and we will be following strict safety guidelines and protocols (see here). Each class also offers a virtual option for families who prefer to Zoom in.

The arts are essential. Art helps restore joy in our hearts, homes, and communities. The arts will be a vital tool in re-imagining and re-creating a better and brighter future. Arts education is a right, not a privilege.

STAYING CREATIVELY CONNECTED

  • BAL's outdoor in person programming has been a lifeline to our 3 children ages 13, 11 and 8 during the pandemic. Suffering zoom fatigue, they have thrived in a safe, collegial environment, keeping connected to their passion for musical theater in creative and inspiring classes taught by talented and devoted teachers. BAL's outdoor offerings have kept the spotlight on for in person children's performing arts classes and brought back some joy to our daily, largely remote, grind.

  • Brooklyn Acting Lab's outdoor classes have been an incredible outlet for my children, ages 6 and 10.
