Elizabeth has been living, performing and recording in New York City since 2002. She is of Cuban descent and has studied percussion extensively in Cuba with Los Munequitos De Matanzas and at Conjunto Folklorico School of Music in Havana. She is a member of Tuatara which includes members of R.E.M, Los Lobos and Luna. Elizabeth has been featured in DRUM! magazine and performed at Peter Gabriel’s WOMAD festival with Zakir Hussain, Joan Osbourne, and Hukwe Sawosa. She has performed at Lincoln Center, The Blue Note, and The Kennedy Center with various musical projects. Elizabeth leads an eclectic Latin Jazz ensemble called La Buya and composes for the group. She has had the honor of sharing the stage with a variety of artists including Uri Caine, David Oquendo, John Legend, Sinead O’Connor, Sharon Jones and the Dapkings, Abe Delgado Gomez, members of Pearl Jam, Michael Franti of Spearhead, and Ozomatli to name a few. She has toured throughout the U.S, Europe, South America and Asia. Elizabeth teaches drumming and leadership skills to At-Risk Youth through The Leadership Program and The Composers Collective in New York. She also enjoys teaching independently in the comfort of her neighborhood community, Park Slope, Brooklyn.
