What are the summer program hours?


What is Early-Drop Off?

Early Drop-Off is an available add-on for your child if they need to be dropped off before regular summer program hours. Early Drop-Off begins on Monday at 8:30AM and Tuesday through Friday at 8AM. Early Drop-Off must be purchased in advance to participate. This add-on is available in your cart upon check-out at a weekly rate of $50. Caretakers may drop-off their child at any time during Early Drop-Off hours. If you wish to participate in Early Drop-Off but haven’t registered ahead of time, please let us know, and we will do our best to accommodate you! For unplanned Early Drop-offs, payment may be made upon arrival at Brooklyn Acting Lab.

Early Drop-Off locations are based on your summer program location (they occur at Brooklyn Acting Lab and P.S. 58.

What is Aftercare?

Aftercare is an available add-on for your child if they need to be picked up after regular summer program hours. Aftercare is 3PM-6PM (you can pick up your child anytime between these times) and is offered on Mondays-Thursdays. We do NOT offer after-care on Fridays. This add-on is available in your cart upon check-out at a weekly rate of $120. For unplanned Aftercare hours, please notify us as soon as possible. A rate of $5 per 15 minutes will be applied upon pick-up.

Aftercare locations are in the same location as your program (Brooklyn Acting Lab and P.S. 58). Children in this program can be picked up anytime between 3:30-6 at Brooklyn Acting Lab.

Children in Aftercare will have the choice to participate in many fun activities, like set-building, talent shows, arts and crafts, drawing, reading, and theatre games.

What is your Summer Program refund policy?

After May 19th, the summer program is no longer refundable and there is a $25 switching fee. View our cancellation policies here.

Can I switch the weeks I’ve registered my child?

After May 19th, there is a $25 dollar per week fee for switching from one week to another, provided Brooklyn Acting Lab has at least 2 weeks notice.

What should my child bring each day of the Summer Program?

Please send your child with a nut free lunch, two snacks, and bottle of water with their name on it. If they are participating in Aftercare, please send your child with an additional snack.

What should my child wear for each day of the Summer Program?

Please send your child in comfortable clothes and shoes, as they will be dancing and moving around a lot! Sneakers and supportive sandals are best. No flip-flops, please. Sunscreen should be applied in the morning at home, as we will be going outside once a day. If you would like for us to reapply sunscreen during the day, please send your child with their own sunscreen.

What are the details about lunch and snack time?

Please send your child with a healthy nut-free lunch, two snacks, and bottle of water or thermos which we will refill throughout the day. We eat first snack between 10AM and 10:30AM, lunch at 12PM, and second snack at 2PM. We do not have a refrigerator to keep lunches cold and we are unable to heat up food. BAL is a nut-free zone so please pack snacks and food accordingly! If your child is participating in our aftercare program, please kindly send your child with one or two extra healthy snacks for the end of their day.

What if I need to pick up my child early from the Summer Program?

No problem! If you plan on picking up your child earlier than 3PM, please let us know so that we’re prepared upon your arrival.

What if I am late to pick up my child and they’re not part of Aftercare?

We give caregivers a 15 minute grace period for their child to be picked up after the program is over at 3PM. After 3:15 there will be an additional fee of $5/15 minutes. If you wish to add Aftercare but haven’t registered for it ahead of time, please let us know as soon as possible and we will try to accommodate your request!

When are the Friday Sharings?

Each Friday at 2:00PM (Brooklyn Acting Lab Studio/8th Ave.) and 2:30PM (P.S. 58), Brooklyn Acting Lab hosts a “share” for all students.  The “share” gives the children a chance to perform together as an ensemble and to share with an audience the theatre piece they have been creating over the course of the week. Families and friends are welcome to attend these performances. We would love it if you could join us at that time, however, we do understand that scheduling is sometimes challenging. We are present for child as their “audience” and will take lots of photos that we can share with you!

How do I know which summer program to choose for my child? 

All summer programs at BAL indicate grades that children should be entering into in the fall of that year, a.k.a “rising” grades.
