Hailing from NYC, Julie grew up in downtown Manhattan and attended the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts as an art major. With degrees in Art and Art History from the University of Arizona, an MFA from Rhode Island School of Design and art teaching certification from Brown’s prestigious Harriet W. Sheridan Center for teaching, artist and teacher Julie Brunner Cross has had a long romance with art. Through fun activities involving varied materials, and a curriculum designed to support her student’s curiosity and wonder about the world around them she strives to inspire students to bring their own ideas and creations to life, and to find the joy in making. Julie teaches in Brooklyn at the Park Slope Armory Y, the Prospect Park Y, and P.S. 107 afterschool. She lives in Park Slope with her husband, daughter and dog.
