Grace Schiraldi is a teaching artist who uses theatre games, interactive storytelling, performance and sensory-based engagements to create moments of shared joy. She believes anyone of any age and ability can benefit from the human interactions and emotional release participant-centered applied theatre practices can create. Grace is an avid fan of Shakespeare and was a Senior Docent at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C. She feels the Bard’s work can be accessible to all. Grace has worked with a variety of participants including: early learners, elementary and high school students, LGBTQ emerging adults, both incarcerated formerly incarcerated youth and adults, and older adults with dementia. She holds a Masters in Applied Theatre from CUNY-School of Professional Studies and a BA in Literature and Rhetoric from Binghamton University. Her coursework included Play-building, Theatre in Education, Co-intentional Directing, Theatre of the Oppressed, Process Dramas and Interactive Storytelling. Grace is married (to Vinny Schiraldi) with two children. Her daughter is a public defender and her son is a zookeeper. She grew up in Islip, Long Island and loves the beach. Previously, Grace owned and operated Synapse Communications, LLC a marketing and advertising company. Grace is super excited to be a part of the Brooklyn Acting Lab family and is looking forward to getting to know the students, parents and community partners.
