Program Description
In the Mini Musical program students will create their own original musical based on fairy tales…except we we will flip the script and ask questions about character, setting, and conflict. What if Jack planted a beanstalk in Prospect Park? What if Cinderella didn’t make it to the ball after all? Who is the Big “Bad” Wolf and is he really bad? The musical will include short scenes, songs and choreography. Participants will develop their vocal, movement, and acting skills. Inspiration will include the music of Into the Woods, Enchanted, Wicked, and Cinderella. Every student gets a part and will work with teaching artists to develop their characters through an ensemble-based rehearsal process.
On June 12th, there will be an in-studio performance at BAL.
