Julianna MacKenzie Kantor is a Brooklyn based theatre artist from Charlotte, North Carolina. She served as the Head of Arts at Camp Wa-Klo (Dublin, NH) from 2022-2025 where she found her passion for empowering young people through theatre. Some of her favorite directing and producing projects in the past include: High School Musical Jr., Frozen Jr., Newsies Jr., (Camp Wa-Klo) Into the Woods (EDGE Musical Theatre), and It's the Word: Songs from Grease (Masquerade Musical Theatre). As an experienced performer and deviser, she prides herself on her emphasis on professionalism, collaboration, and specificity. She treasures sharing her love for theatre with young actors. Empowering students to embrace the vulnerable, unique, loud, and truthful parts of themselves. Whether it's an iconic ensemble dance number, a building ballad, or an intimate duet, taking the time to work through a piece at an actor's level is integral to her directing process. In addition to educational theatre, she's passionate about companies that emphasize accessibility in the arts, advocacy, social justice, and development of new works. Aside from directing and teaching, she is an actor, props designer, writer, and Creative Partner with Flux Theatre Ensemble. Julianna is so excited to be working with Brooklyn Acting Lab for another semester!
