Weekly All Summer Long
Rising K-4th

From: $0.00

July 5 – August 25 (weekly programs)

July 10-14 @PS 58: Lights, Camera, Action - Hollywood! – optional

Calling all movie stars! Calling all directors! Calling all costume designers, set painters, and producers! We are making the movie of the century! Together as actors, directors, and playwrights, we’ll write a short movie and film it throughout the course of the week. At the end of the week we’ll host a movie premiere, where we’ll walk down the red carpet to our adoring fans and watch our film together!

July 17-21 @PS 58: Follow the Sun – optional

Blast off into outer space and circle the sun, all the while learning about planets and creating our own alien creatures. When our spaceship loses power and gets stuck in space, we have to work together to either build a new vessel to take us back to Earth, or to find a way to live in crazy and exciting outer space forever!

July 24-28 @PS 58: Sand to Surf – optional

While we were making sandcastles on the beach, a tiny crab scuttled up to us. We could barely make out what she was saying: “Help me get home! I’ve lost my way!” Get some sun on the beach -- with plenty of sunscreen of course -- as we build our very own submarines that take us from the warm sand to the depths of the dark ocean on a quest to help Cramer the Crab find her home. When silly sea creatures emerge to help us go deeper, we discover new and never-before-heard-of-creatures who lead us to Atlantis! What else will we find in the depths unknown? Can we help Cramer get home?

July 31-August 4 @PS 58: Electric Science – optional

Hey, mad scientists! Fizz up your beakers and mix up some concoctions this week as we play with experiments on light bulbs and energy. When all of New York City loses electricity and there’s a giant city-wide blackout, it’s up to us to get it back. Be your own Edison and create a brilliant invention that will change the face of humanity as we know it!

August 7-11 @PS 58: Gone Camping! – optional

It’s time to head out into the wilderness beneath the stars! With our hiking shoes on our feet and our backpacks on our backs, we’ll climb mountains, go fishing, swim in mountain lakes, set up campsites, and, of course, roast marshmallows around the campfire. We had set out to climb the highest peak in the forest, Mount Doobilly, but when someone loses their compass, we’ll have to befriend Carla the Coyote and Brenda the Bear in order to help us summit the mountain before trekking home.

August 14-18 @PS 58: Shel Silverstein - “A Light in the Attic” – optional

“Do a loony-goony dance
'Cross the kitchen floor,
Put something silly in the world
That ain't been there before.”
Delve into the wonky upside-down world of Shel Silverstein as we write our own poems to be playfully performed at the end of the week!

This week, we’ll write our own showstopping songs, complete with jazzy choreography, and perform our show at Broadway’s best kept secret: Brooklyn Acting Lab, of course. Our show will have a brand new theme, new characters, and a new plot... no one has ever seen the likes of this show before! Who knows, maybe we’ll even create the next Hamilton!

Description

For our rising Kindergarten – 4th graders, we offer wacky and creative theatrical fun with a different theme each week! Whether you’re interested in being a mad scientist, a mermaid, a wizard, or a rock star, we’ve got you covered. Weeklong programs offered all summer long!

*This activity is not sponsored or endorsed by the New York City Department of Education or the City of New York.

Drop-off is at 9 AM at P.S. 58, The Carroll School.

Pick-up is at 3 PM at the same location.

Please send your child with a healthy lunch, two snacks, and a bottle of water. We are a nut-free zone so please pack snacks and food accordingly! If your child is participating in our aftercare program, please kindly send your child with one or two extra healthy snacks for the end of their day!

Our “sharing” is scheduled on Fridays at 2:30PM at P.S. 58. We encourage parents and/or caregivers to join, however we do understand that scheduling is sometimes difficult. As long as your child knows in advance, our staff will always be present for your children as their “audience,” and will provide a lot of support!
