Creative Songwriting Workshop with Jared Dixon January 22nd, 3-5pm With the explosive success of Hamilton: An American musical, many people have been exposed to the wonders of verse as a musical device in both rap and theatre. How did Lin-Manuel Miranda even begin to create such a masterpiece? How does he command language so well? Work the Verse is a workshop that aims to nurture the same creative process. This is NOT a rap class. This is a workshop about the appreciation of words as beautiful music. Participants will explore rhyme and rhythm,  and develop writing skills in order to begin their own portfolio of performance repertoire. Jared Dixon is a professional actor, singer, rapper, and writer. He has been seen on stage in New York, Rhode Island, Boston, Connecticut, and Ohio in shows like In The Heights, The Color Purple, Ragtime, and Hairspray. Jared has also released three original solo albums, and is in the midst of writing his own movies and literary works. His experience in all fields came together when he was featured in the #BarsWorkshopNYC Mixtape Musical Medley Vol. 1.
